Conservation & Education Assistant (Deputy Manager)

Matt started his interest in wildlife and conservation when he joined the ‘Goldcrest’ wildlife club run by the ranger at Holt Country Park when he was just 8, since then Matt has followed his interest through and in year 10 at Reepham High School, Matt visited Whitwell Hall to speak to Kevin and John about which steps to take next to reach his goal of conservation work.

After schooling had finished, Matt went on to Easton College, completing a National Diploma in Conservation Management. At the end of this, Matt choose to follow it on with a degree, something he had never thought about before.

Another two years at Easton College gaining a Foundation Degree in Ecology and Conservation, followed by a ‘top-up’ year at Writtle College to come away with a BSc (Hons) in Ecology and Conservation with Biological Surveying.

During the college and university time, Matt spent five summer seasons working for the Norfolk Wildlife Trust on Hickling and Ranworth Broads as a Water Trail Guide.

Matt started at Whitwell Hall in 2012 working for the summer seasons and the winter seasons as an outdoor Teaching Assistant at Queens hills Primary School, before becoming full time at Whitwell Hall in 2014.
